Christian Wood will not be available for the entire training camp, the lakers announcing he will miss at least the next eight weeks due to renewed knee problems.
Wood underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Monday, the Lakers said. He previously underwent knee surgery in March.
For Wood, the injury delays the comeback season he had hoped for after sign a minimum contract with the Lakers before the 2023-24 season.
He averaged 6.9 points and 5.1 rebounds last season for the Lakers, without ever really establishing himself as a great backup.
Wood, who will soon be 29, is entering a pivotal season for his career. He was forced to opt out of his player option with the Lakers this summer and return to the team with which he has struggled to make a major impact on a consistent basis.
