Nick Kyrgios says he feels “fit and healthy” after announcing he will return to competitive tennis at the Brisbane International at the end of December.
The 29-year-old Australian has played just one singles match on the ATP Tour in two years due to knee, foot and wrist injuries.
The Brisbane event kicks off the 2025 season and is preparation for the Australian Open which begins on January 12.
“It’s been a long healing journey to get to where I am today,” Kyrgios said.
“One of the goals I set for myself was to be able to play during the Australian summer, so I’m delighted to be able to start in Brisbane, which is one of my favorite tournaments.”
In October, Kyrgios, beaten in the 2022 Wimbledon final by Novak Djokovic, said he planned to return in December. World Tennis League event in Abu Dhabi.
He won the Brisbane International in 2018, beating American Ryan Harrison in the final, and will be making his fourth appearance at the tournament.
“I feel fit and healthy, and I’m excited about my return to tennis after some time away from the sport,” Kyrgios said.
