Two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Busch revealed he was arrested in Mexico for possession of a handgun, but the situation was resolved.
Just a day after finishing second in his first NASCAR Cup Series race with Richard Childress Racing at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, two-time champion Kyle Busch revealed he had a somewhat eventful vacation a few weeks ago.
In a statement posted to social media, Busch wrote that he and his wife Samantha took a multi-day trip to Mexico. While attempting to return to the United States, he was flagged during a routine airport check for have a handgun in your travel bag.
The driver of Chevrolet #8, who has a valid concealed carry permit, did not know the gun was in his bag. He was arrested while the situation was resolved and eventually returned to North Carolina without further problems.

According to Bob Pockrass of Fox Sports, the former Joe Gibbs Racing driver informed NASCAR of the matter within 72 hours of the matter unfolding, and since nothing else came of it, it is no need to sanction or further investigate the matter. NASCAR’s share.

Additionally, as Busch indicated in his statement, the legal aspect of the matter has now been resolved and he considers the matter closed.
While a typical prison sentence following an arrest of this nature is three and a half years, he was ultimately fined approximately $1,100 before being released and allowed to return to the United States.
Reports from Mexico and a government press release indicate that Busch was fined approximately $1,100. He was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison but was obviously allowed to leave the country.

Busch is scheduled to compete in the season-opening Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway on Sunday, February 19.

Fans may recall that last August, Busch and his family were at the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota, when shots were fired inside the mall. So while there will naturally be differences of opinion on any gun-related issue, it’s hard to argue with the fact that Busch has a valid concealed carry permit.
