Knicks’ Evan Fournier Confirms the Obvious About Future NBA Villain

As expected, Evan Fournier remained on the bench for the first three games of the New York Knicks season. Unless an injury occurs, this is likely where he will stay until New York finds a trade partner of the thirty-year-old.

Fournier expressed during the offseason his desire to be traded to a team where he can contribute regularly. The $18.9 million he’s making this season could help match his salary if the Knicks trade for a star, whoever that may be.

In the meantime, Fournier was a guest on “Tidal League”, where he declared that Draymond Green had taken Kevin Garnett’s place as the best trash talker in the NBA. When asked about Dillon Brooks, he said the Rockets’ new forward isn’t much of a talker.

Maybe Fournier said that because Brooks can rarely back up his trash talk, with Steph Curry being the latest player to give a bad image of the future.

Fournier didn’t outright criticize Brooks and say it was hard to like him, but confirmed what someone else said.

Who is the best trash talker in the league?

β€œIt used to be 100% Garnett. Now it’s Draymond, he’s got a big mouth for sure… He (Dillon Brooks) doesn’t really talk shit like that. He’s acting weird this year… It’s definitely hard to like him.

Evan Fournier agrees it’s ‘hard to like’ budding villain Dillon Brooks

Dillon Brooks never learns his lesson. In the playoffs last season, he called LeBron James “old” and said he “don’t respect nobody until they come and give me 40.” After each of Memphis’ three road losses in Los Angeles, Brooks did not make himself available to the media after the game, leading to him being further clowned on social media.

Brooks’ latest attempt at trash talk came during Houston’s visit to San Antonio. Of Victor Wembanyama, Brooks said: “He’s big, he really is.” The Spurs beat the Rockets in overtime, 126-122.

As you can see, Evan Fournier was right when he said it was hard to love Brooks. Even if he played for the Knicks, it would be hard to like him since he can’t back up what he says. He is an expert at attracting negative attention, which is the last thing the Grizzlies needed last season.

Dillon Brooks and Houston won’t visit MSG until Jan. 17, and maybe he’ll have something to say about Evan Fournier. The New York guard simply confirmed what’s true, but Brooks doesn’t need much to get going.
