Dec. 3 — The 500 Sprint Car Tour, founded by Anderson Speedway in 2022, plans a nine-race schedule again in 2024.
The key event will be the 77th running of the Little 500 in May, which does not count toward the series championship.
The Little 500 delivered a memorable event last year with Caleb Armstrong passing Dakota Armstrong on the final lap to take his first victory in the May classic.
The series in 2024 will make its first appearance at Winchester Speedway and Owosso Speedway in Michigan.
The addition of Winchester Speedway is a plus for the series after last year’s successful race at Salem Speedway with a similar design.
With Winchester’s new management team, which includes Vores Compact Touring Series officials, adding a date at the Randolph County track was a natural fit.
There will be 500 Sprint Car Tour events at Anderson Speedway, with round-trip visits to Berlin Raceway, Salem Speedway, Toledo Speedway and Indianapolis Raceway Park.
The series is expected to return to Kalamazoo Speedway in Michigan.
Kody Swanson won his second 500 Sprint Car championship last year, with 40 teams competing in the series.
Tyler Roahrig won four of eight races but missed several events, hampering his efforts to win the championship.
Taylor Ferns was the first woman to win an event when she won at Salem Speedway. Dakoda Armstrong, Swanson and Bobby Santos III also recorded victories.
Roahrig has visited victory lane 11 times in the 26 races run by the series and swept the previous five races at Berlin Raceway.
Swanson is second on the all-time list of winners with five, with Kyle O’Gara recording three wins. Armstrong and Santos each have two wins, with Tanner Swanson and Billy Wease joining the list of race winners.
The Kenyon Midget Series, which partners with the Sprint Car Tour, is hosting races in 2024 at Anderson Speedway for two events, the Indianapolis Speedrome for two races and Berlin Raceway.
The series will likely hold companion events at the Salem and Kalamazoo speedways.
Former Kenyon Midget Series champion Trey Osborne won Rookie of the Year with the USAC Silver Crown Series.
