“You just have to know when you go to the game you know they are going to win,” Mohamed Almaghrabi said.
He attended an ongoing regular season game this year and is excited about the playoffs. “I like the fact that some tickets are not too expensive. The other day it was about $28 to go to a playoff game.
The season began with the opening of CPKC Stadium. “It was really nice and I thought it was like a really cool addition to the town,” Hope Johnson said.
“It’s been very exciting for the brand new stadium and the enthusiasm around women’s sport, like this, is just incredible,” said current fan Cynthia Wattree. “I’m happy to see that Kansas City is kind of rolling out the red carpet for them.”
The success of Current could lead to the addition of another professional sports team In Kansas City, like last week, Patrick Mahomes said he would host a WNBA team.
“We want to take basketball away from Kansas City in general, the WNBA and the success they had last season and over the last few seasons,” current Chiefs co-owner and quarterback Patrick Mahomes said. “It’s kind of a no-brainer. I mean, trying to start a WNBA team in Kansas City.
Current fans supported a WNBA team.
“I play basketball,” Eliza Eblen said. “So, like I’m kind of into basketball. My whole family is, so we have to go out of state to see a basketball game.

“We’re a sports city, and really seeing the investment and growth of women and just seeing how the city is ready to change, would kind of put us on the map,” Watree added.
Mahomes believes the recipe for success his ownership group used to prop up the Current can be used to attract a WNBA team.
“You see the support they have, so let’s try to have a WNBA team here as well,” Mahomes said.
And Wattree believes a new women’s sports team will further elevate women’s sports in Kansas City. “It’s really exciting to see that, you know, little girls can see themselves there too and they see that the city is saying that you’re worth it and that you matter.”
