Justin Thomas gets involved in another PGA Tour division subject

Justin Thomas offered his reflections on slow play days after sending a unprecedented letter to the membership of the PGA Tour.

Thomas wrote to his peers before Open farmers insurance Imploring golfers to be open to new ideas to try to improve the product for fans.

The double major champion asked players to think of their own ideas and to be receptive to the opening more with interviews on the course.

According to Golf, CBS loved his letter, their president would have delighted that Thomas was ready to stick your neck on the line and take a leadership position.

One way, some have argued, to improve the PGA TOUR TV is to solve the problem of the rhythm of the game.

Last week American Express I saw the latest group of Sepp Straka, Jason Day and Charley Hoffman take five hours and 49 minutes to perform 18 holes.

A player, Michael Kim, suggested that The slow game is simply inevitable.

Thomas were asked if the tour could one day consider introducing a shotclock similar to Tgl.

“You know, it’s difficult,” he said.

“Listen, it’s my 10th year on tour. I have been on the CAP for many years. We talked about the rhythm of play during the 10 years.”

Thomas referred to the players’ advisory council.

Last week, he was elected again on the CAP.

He continued: “The fact is that you have to make such radical changes to make it noticeable.

“Almost a lot of conversations end in the same way; Is that what are we trying to accomplish here?

“Are the rounds going to be 12 minutes faster?” Will they be 20 minutes faster?

“It is difficult to make a sufficiently large difference in a realistic way where people are like:” wow, it’s great. “”

“The rounds are only three hours now or half past three hours instead of five.

“Do you know what I mean? It is really difficult to make a big change.”

Thomas stressed that the faster game is also difficult on more difficult lessons where there is so much money at stake.

He added: “Listen, there could certainly be things here and there that are done, but it is also – I think there is, like, a preview investigation of the fans that the Tour done with fans.

“They love harder golf courses, they like to watch us play difficult places, but they want us to play faster, so these two do not go together.

“You have to somehow choose your battles.

“But, yes, I guess we will see.

“I’m sure we all hope, but in the end, is it like, what are we trying to do? Do you know what I say?”
