For those who are fans of the quarterback position, I hope you followed the NFL Draft on Thursday night.
Apparently, the general managers couldn’t pass up the selection of six signal callers in the first 12 picks.
As expected, the Chicago Bears selected USC’s Caleb Williams with the No. 1 pick and the Minnesota Vikings traded up and took Michigan’s JJ McCarthy with the No. 10 pick.
With two NFC North rivals both adding a pair of future starting quarterbacks, Green Bay Packers fans immediately shared their thoughts.
But that wasn’t the main reason Love’s name was typed early and often on draft nights. It was because of another quarterback who was taken with the No. 8 pick.
Michael Penix draft pick vs. Packers choosing Love
When Michael Penix was selected by the Atlanta Falcons at No. 8, the move drew immediate comparisons to when the Packers selected Love in the 2021 draft. Why? Because like Love, Penix won’t be pushed into starting his first season with veteran Kirk Cousins taking the snaps in Atlanta.
And of course, Aaron Rodgers always sneaks into the conversation when Love is involved.
