The major and favorite double champion of John Daly fans should make his debut in 2025 PGA Tour Champions at the Hoag Classic in Newport Beach on March 21. He is also one of the last golfers to engage in Classic Galeri Presented by Spotlight 29 Casino, the PGA Tour Champions event later this month at Rancho Mirage.
Daly should be joined in the Galleri field by Noteah Begay III, Boo Weekley and Billy Andrade for the third annual Galleri Classic from March 26 to 30 on the Dinah Shore tournament at the Hills Country Club mission.
But before the start of her champions season, Daly weighed on the current negotiations between the stakeholders of the Saudi public investment fund (who owns golf liv) and the PGA Tour, simply affirming that the situation must be repaired.
Daly appeared in the Newsmax program “Rob Schmitt Live” and said he had no problem with the players playing on the two tours, especially because of the workload that this would imply.
“We are obliged, we must play in 15 events per year, on the PGA Tour,” said Daly. “Our champions tour is a little less, but to keep our insurance and keep our 401ks, our current retirement plans. But you know, hey, if these guys want to go to Liv and they will pay them a lot of money, you will play 29 tournaments because you have to play our tour, and you played 14 on their own.
“Golf is a world game and everyone should have the opportunity to play … You were born, you live and what that?
A five -time winner of the PGA Tour, Daly, first gained notoriety by winning the 1991 PGA championship as a ninth alternative in the field and without playing a training lap. The unlikely victory was the catalyst for his recruit of the year of the PGA 1991. In 1995, Daly became the youngest active player in the PGA Tour to win two major championships when he won the British Open Championship in St. Andrews.
Daly made 16 departures on the champions of the PGA Tour in 2024, with its best T-22 at the American Family Insurance Championship in Madison, Wisconsin. He played in two majors, the PGA championship and the open championship, withdrawing in both cases after posting the opening blows of 82.
He said he was grateful that the PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan and President Donald Trump met to help bring the games together.
“I just want Jay and thank God that Papa Trump gets involved, because I want it to work. Because I have friends on the PGA Tour and the Liv Tour, and I want them all. The best players must play.”
