Jaylen Brown is having one of the greatest scoring streaks in Celtics history.
The four-time All-Star and 2024 NBA Finals MVP has scored 30 points in nine consecutive games, a feat accomplished only once in the rich history of the Boston franchise.
Two days after Brown scored 30 points on 13-of-20 shooting Friday victory 140-122 against Indiana he lost 37 of 14 in 23 Defeat 114-108 Sunday to the Blazers.
Hall of Fame forward Larry Bird scored 30 goals in nine straight games during the 1985 season, and Brown will have a chance to surpass Bird’s best streak when the Celtics play on the road against the Jazz on Tuesday.
Only one player this season has had such a longer streak: Lakers guard Luka. Doncic. The NBA scoring leader has scored 30 points in nine consecutive games (November 15-December 12).
The Celtics are 6-3 during Brown’s 30-point streak.
Brown scored a season-high 42 points on 16-of-24 shooting in the first game of the streak, a 123-117 victory over the Knicks on December 12.
He has scored exactly 30 points five times in his last nine games and has shot a success rate of 50.1% (316-for-625) during his streak.
Brown hasn’t made more than three 3-pointers in any game during that stretch. The last time he scored less than 30 points was November 30. But in the previous three games, Brown scored 41, 33 and 35.
