Ja Morant is expected to return to the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday night against the Portland Trail Blazers, according to NBA reporter Chris Haynes.
Morant, a two-time All-Star, has missed the Grizzlies’ last eight games with a hip injury. He was injured in a fall November 6 against the Los Angeles Lakers and was originally listed as weekly.
According to the Grizzlies, Morant suffered a posterior hip subluxation without dislocation.
The injury marked a setback for Morant after missing all but nine games last season. due to suspension and injuries. Fortunately for Morant and the Grizzlies, the injury did not result in a lengthy absence.
In eight games before his absence, Morant averaged 20.6 points, 9.1 assists and five rebounds while shooting 44.8 percent from the field and 25.8 percent from 3-point range. The Grizzlies are 5-3 in his absence and enter Monday’s game at 10-7, good for seventh place in the West.
