Aside from a few hits that caused concussions to several drivers, there was a risk of a fire breaking out in the car. There were promises to look into the problem and fix it, but now it appears it has resurfaced again.

This time, the latest victim is Cup Series newcomer Ty Gibbs, driving the No. 54. Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota.
The incident occurred during a practice session at the Los Angeles Coliseum. Based on a tweet from NASCAR reporter Jeff Gluck, Ty Gibbs said it was very dark inside the car and appeared to be coming from the right front. However, that’s all he and the team were able to discover during their initial investigation. Naturally, NASCAR fans weren’t at all happy about the problem’s reappearance.

How did NASCAR fans react to the Ty Gibbs fire?
It’s safe to say that fans were unhappy with what happened at the Coliseum. Overall, it was not an ideal situation for the stock car racing series. The bright side, Gibbs was able to get out of his car without too much difficulty. However, fans were nothing short of dismayed when the NASCAR the authorities had almost a year to resolve these issues, so there was no excuse as to why this was still happening.

Honestly, the explanation makes sense because similar cases were also seen last year. Apparently the exhaust was redirected to the rocker panels located under the doors. They also incorporated mufflers and resonators to reduce noise and opened the bottom of the rocker arms for cooling. However, this increased the risk of rubber buildup and possible combustion.
