One of the most controversial topics of the baseball offseason is when the Baseball Hall of Fame ballot will be released. This year, however, there will be no debate over whether Ichiro Suzuki will be elected, but rather whether he will become the second player to be unanimously elected to Cooperstown, joining Mariano Rivera.
Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman discuss Ichiro’s case for getting 100% of the vote and why there might be a handful of voters who don’t vote for him, despite his 3,000-plus career wins and debut in the majors at age 27. They also discuss the other potential first-ballot Hall of Famer in CC Sabathia, as well as the rest of the new nominees on the ballot.
Also in this episode of Baseball-B-Cast Barthe guys discuss Paul Skenes running away with the NL Rookie of the Year award, Luis Gil taking home AL honors despite a much closer race than expected, and why the Manager of the Year award is a bit silly. Jake and Jordan then look at who could receive MVP votes before talking about a new team being added to the Juan Soto sweepstakes.
