Media threshing and buzz are real around the Iowa Male basketball team in 2025-26.
With the new head coach Ben McCollum entering the fold, Hawkeye Fans have hope for a male basketball season for the first time in some time. McCollum has revised the whole list with new talents that better correspond to the basketball style he likes to play. And it all starts with the addition of the leader of the Bennett Stittz stars.

Stirtz followed McCollum from the northwest of the state of Missouri in Drake and now at Iowa. With the Bulldogs last year, Stirtz won the Larry Bird player of the Missouri Conference and the Missouri Valley Conference NewComer of the Year prices.
Stirtz collected on average 19.2 points, 5.7 assists per game and 4.3 rebounds per game while pulling 49.8% on the field, 39.5% from behind the arc and 79.4% of the charity. He helped Drake at the NCAA Tournament and is now looking to bring similar success to the playoffs to the Hawkeyes.
And it’s not just fans who think that Stittz will be good this season. The national media also seem to be on media threshing.
Stirtz obtained his first major pre-season recognition Tuesday, winning the All-Big Ten pre-season status of the Blue Ribbon College basketball directory.
Stirtz joins Trey Kaufman-Renn from Purdue and Braden Smith, the Yaxel Lendeborg of Michigan, and Donovan Dent d’Ucla on the pre-season pre-season team all-Big ten.

In its blue ribbon forecasts, Iowa Basketball should finish seventh in the Big Ten of 18 teams during the 2025-26 season.
Hawkeye fans will be able to consult Stirtz and this new Iowa male basketball team on November 4 when the Hawks are Robert Morris in a non-conference confrontation.
