Indianapolis (AP) – Indiana fever continued to overison on Tuesday by signing the free agent Brianna Turner, a double selection of the WNBA.

Turner is the latest addition to a list that consists of five all-stars and the last two recruits of the year of the WNBA, Caitlin Clark guard and striker Aliyah Boston.

The addition of Turner also follows a trend that fever has followed throughout the offseason – Saumousant of veterans with an after -season experience. Indiana had already signed Natasha Howard, A triple champion and two stars twice, and Dewanna Bonner, twice champion and six times All-Star.

Indiana thinks that adding will make the franchise a legitimate competitor of the title after having ended a seven -year drought in the playoffs last season. The fever was swept away in the first round of the playoffs by the Connecticut Sun.

“I am delighted to join the organization of fever and to compete for a championship,” said Turner in a statement published by the team. “I was attracted by the team’s commitment to invest in women and provide the best professional atmosphere to succeed. The front office. And the coaches staff have gathered a dynamic list with which I can’t wait to learn and grow throughout the season.

Atlanta selected Turner with the overall choice n ° 11 in 2019 and exchanged it in Phoenix. The Alum of Notre-Dame spent its first five seasons with The Mercury, winning the All-Rookie honors in 2019. It was selected from the League All-Defensive team in 2020 and 2021 after finishing among the eights Best of the Ligue en Blocs every season.

Turner spent last season with the Chicago Sky, playing the least minutes of his six professional seasons and on average 1.2 points in career. 2.0 rebounds and 0.5 blocks.

But Indiana thinks that the 3 -inch 6 -inch fire blocker could be ready for a resurgence this season. Turner’s mid -career averages are 4.6 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.2 blocks.

“It adds depth to our post-rotation, providing exceptional blocking and rebound capacities to our team,” said Amber Cox Director. “The Qi of Brianna basketball is out of the charts, it plays with a rhythm and is another fantastic veteran presence for us, on and off the field.”

Turner helped lead Fighting Irish in his second NCAA championship in 2018.

It will be gathered with the former teammate of Mercury Sophie Cunningham, which the fever has acquired in a profession with four teams. Indiana has also signed goalkeeper Sydney Colson, who has played in the last three seasons in Las Vegas where she was one of two championship points.
