Ben Davis stands out Mark Zackery IV will sign with Notre Dame Wednesday begins the early signing period for college football. Zackery explains, in his own words, why he got involved with the Irish:
Notre Dame was a school that I saw a lot on TV when I was younger, but I never knew much about it. I grew up an Ohio State football fan, but Notre Dame was something that was always around.
After going through the entire recruiting process and seeing all these great schools in different conferences, walking onto Notre Dame’s campus in South Bend is a different type of feeling than anywhere else in the country. I chose Notre Dame because of the love they showed for me and my family and the dedication they showed in telling me and showing me that I am a good fit not only for the team football but also for school.
The entire coaching staff is a great group, not only of coaches, but men that I want to be surrounded by as I go through this big stage in my life of transitioning to a man. I’ve built relationships with some players on the team and players in my recruiting class and those are the kind of people I want to compete with. I greatly appreciate my close friends and family in my life, and I get the same feeling of home when I am in the facility with the entire Notre Dame family.
In depth: For Mark Zackery IV, it all starts at home.
Being from Indianapolis, my decision was made even easier because my family and friends back home will always be very available at all times. Notre Dame has always talked about life after football and the different opportunities that school alone gives us, in addition to competing at the highest level. School was always something I never took for granted, because going to the NFL or not, you’re going to stop playing football one day.
I believe Notre Dame offers the best combination of football, coaching, education and relationships in the country. It took me a while to complete all of my different visits, enjoy my recruiting process, and commit to my school. Deep in my heart, I knew where home would be, and it was none other than the University of Notre Dame.
