Iga Swiatek progressed quite easily at the Australian Open as she made her way to the round of 16 of the competition.

The Pole is one step away from her best-ever performance at the Melbourne event, as she has two semi-final appearances under her belt in 2022 and 2025.

Swiatek will face Elena Rybakina in the quarterfinals, whom she has beaten in six of their 11 meetings during her career.

The world number two will be supported ahead of her match against Rybakina as she put together an impressive run in her round of 16 match.

Iga Swiatek’s impressive career milestone at the Australian Open

Following her victory against Maddison Inglis, Swiatek earned her 50th Grand Slam victory in hard-court events.

She became the youngest player to win the number since Caroline Wozniacki achieved the feat at the US Open in 2014.

Swiatek will make even more history if she wins the next three matches at the Australian Open, as she will achieve a career Grand Slam.

The world number two is only missing the Australian Open from her CV, having won four crowns at Roland Garros and a title at the US Open and Wimbledon.

Swiatek’s new hard-court record is particularly impressive since the Pole has only won one hard-court Grand Slam in her career.

Iga Swiatek also tied a Serena Williams record

Swiatek has become a backbone mainstay at Grand Slam tournaments and the Australian Open marks the Pole’s sixth consecutive time in a major quarter-final.

She is the youngest player to achieve this feat since Serena Williams achieved the feat at the age of 22.

Williams achieved the feat between Roland Garros in 2002 and Wimbledon in 2003, which also saw her win three of those six Grand Slam tournaments.

Swiatek has won one of her last six Grand Slam appearances, at Wimbledon in 2025, although she hopes to make it two in Melbourne.
