Milwaukee is one of several markets with a group develop a proposal for a WNBA expansion team, giving local basketball fans some optimism that the increasingly popular league could provide another professional sports team in the city.
The Milwaukee Does played in the city from 1979 to 1980, although it was a short-lived stay. The Milwaukee Aces semi-professional team formed in 2014 but folded in 2020.
