The Carolina Hurricanes announced Sunday that they have recalled defenseman Ty Smith and forward Tyson Jost from the AHL’s Chicago Wolves.
The Canes did not practice Sunday following the team’s 6-4 loss to the Colorado Avalanche the day before, so it’s unclear whether the call-ups are necessary or just a precaution.
The Hurricanes still have two games left on their road trip, with games against the Vegas Golden Knights on Monday and the Utah Hockey Club on Wednesday, so perhaps the measures are just to ensure that they have extra bodies on hand.
Smith, 24, has two assists in three games with the Wolves so far and Jost, 26, has a goal and three points in eight games.
Carolina is scheduled to practice Monday at 2 p.m. EST at T-Mobile Arena.
