One of North America’s most historic racing venues takes on added significance this weekend NASCAR Round of 16 The playoffs take place on New York’s famous Finger Lakes road course to help determine who will advance to the Round of 16.
This is the second week of the three-week Round of 16. After next week in Bristol, the playoffs will eliminate four teams and the Round of 16 will take place the following week. As a bonus, the Cup Series field will feature two potential road course champions, one of them a familiar face and a throwback to the past: Shane van Gisbergen and Juan Pablo Montoya.
But first and foremost, there are some technical skills that come into play for a group of drivers who, for the most part, grew up turning left and mashing the throttle. And we’ll see three levels of that skill as three different NASCAR stock car entities tackle The Glen — ARCA, Xfinity and the Cup Series will each get their turn.
