Sustainability has rightly become a growing priority in golf in recent years, with increased thinking about how golf courses can be more environmentally friendly, as well as an increasing number of products made from recycled materials and in a more environmentally friendly way.
The first-ever Sustainable Golf Week seeks to build on this momentum, encouraging golfers around the world to contribute to the #DrivingTheGreen program using an easy-to-follow sustainability dashboard.
With 18 tips included on the Sustainability Scorecard, golfers can track their progress throughout the week with tasks as simple as avoiding single-use plastic and taking an interest in your clubs’ community initiatives local.

Presented like a traditional golf scorecard, nine front and back tips provide an ideal starting point for golfers to incorporate more sustainable habits into their regular golfing lives.

Sustainable Golf Week, an initiative of the Golf Environmental Organization (GEO), runs from October 3-9, but the principles can be applied beyond to deliver a greener, more sustainable future for golf.
“When it comes to environmental management and climate action, even the smallest decision can make a huge difference,” said Jonathan Smith, executive director of the nonprofit GEO International Foundation for Sustainable Golf. “Whether it’s sharing a ride to the golf course, walking instead of taking a golf cart, or carefully considering the equipment we buy, every little change made by more than 60 million golfers can have a huge impact. Ensuring that we provide a world where golf remains playable for future generations,” he added.

With a range of daily highlights, features and social activities to interact with throughout the week, GEO has focused on five key topics – clubs and core courses, tournaments, developments and innovations – with the aim to stimulate and encourage positive climate action on their part. implied. Whether it’s land conservation or water management, Sustainable Golf Week is designed to help connect people across the golf world to explore ways to tackle the biggest environmental challenges facing golf and society are confronted.
