How to Fix NHL 23 Unable to Connect to EA Server Error
Unable to connect to EA server error is not exclusive to NHL 23. The latest football simulation game FIFA 23 has connection errors and even NHL 22 had the same problem. Fortunately, there are already known solutions to this problem.
Follow the troubleshooting tips mentioned below to fix NHL 23 not connecting to EA server error.
Check server status
Start by making sure NHL servers are up and running. Pass heresearch for NHL 23 then click on the Server Status button. If it’s green, it means everything is working as expected.
If it is yellow or red, it could mean that the server is under maintenance or there might be a problem on its end. Also check @EAHelp on Twitter to find out what’s happening and to get real-time updates when servers are down.
Restart your network device
If the servers are working as they should, the problem may be on your end. Let’s start with your network device. Restart it. Unplug your modem/router from the power outlet.
After 2 minutes, turn on the modem/router. Wait until all lights on your network device turn green before testing your Internet connection.
Try a different domain name system (DNS)
If something is wrong with the DNS you’re using, you might have trouble connecting to the Internet.
If so, try using other DNS settings with the instructions here. If you don’t see a difference, try Google’s DNS servers. These are:
- Main alternate number: 8.8.8.8
- Secondary alternate number: 8.8.4.4
On Xbox, clear the alternate MAC address
If you’re on Xbox, start by restarting it or performing a full power cycle or physically disconnecting your Xbox console to restart it. Next, try clearing your alternate MAC address by doing the following:
- Go to your Xbox settings
- Go to “Network”, then “Advanced network settings”
- Click “Alternate MAC Address,” then click “Clear.”
Also try changing the NAT type to Open to improve connection speed. You can find the instructions here.
On PS4 or PS5, change the NAT type
If you are playing on PS4 or PS5, restart your PlayStation console. Then change the NAT type to Type 1 as it provides more bandwidth and stability for online gaming. Here’s how to do it.
- Go to your Router login page.
- Log in using your Information required.
- Access your router port settings.
- Open the following ports for your PS. TCP: 1935, 3478-3480; UDP: 3074, 3478-3479
- Once you have saved these settings, restart your router.
- Following, restart your PS5.
- Follow the steps above to essay your PS5’s Internet connection.
- Your NAT type should now be NAT type 1 or Open NAT.
