THE Rangers traveled to Los Angeles supposedly to “breathe easier” – noted a few MSG Networks analysts – following Chris Drury’s now infamous letter of capitulation and retread false hope.

But “easy breathing” is over. Last night’s 4-3 loss to the sometimes competitive Kings in Tinseltown hurt more than any previous defeat.
Put simply, this condemned fans to a second straight season without a playoff. (Not important, but at the NHL’s highest ticket prices.)
It’s now back to the normal “Close But No Cigar” saga for Seventh Avenue skate YO-YOs.
You have to understand that when the Blueshirts embarked on their four-game road trip, life in Rangerville was much different than it is today. As faint as it was, there was at least some hope.

After that ignominious 8-4 home loss to the weak Ottawa Senators, a totally dismaying era came to an end.
We have entered the new world of Letters From Lord Drury. This is the same Drury who “won” a new contract with MSG despite management error after error.
The pizza delivery guy, who serves not only as President of the Blueshirts but also as Lord High Executioner, has decided that his 2025-26 Rangers model, which looked great in the showroom, is obsolete.
The customer guarantee is about as valuable as last night’s performance.
Amazingly, the Blueshirt sedan broke down so far from the NHL finish line that Sir Drury wrote a proclamation for all to read (and if you didn’t, you might fail the next test.)

In this New Drury world, leading scorer Breadman Panarin will disappear and maybe even – let’s perish – Mika Zibanejad or Vin (The Bin) Trocheck will be traded as well.
What MSG Networks analysts tell us today is that Lord Drury is a benevolent despot. This means that his proclamation allowed poor and overpaid players to “breathe easy.”

JT Miller paints positive picture after Rangers’ loss to Kings The New York Rangers have come away empty-handed on their West Coast road trip thus far, losing 5-3 to the Anaheim Ducks on Monday night and 4-3 to the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday night.

Beating the sinking Flyers in Philadelphia would have provided that “breath of fresh air.”
We have to believe this was just an “easy reprieve” of one game, because look what happened first in Anaheim and then in Los Angeles last night. The “fresh air” has been polluted by two other ersatz representations.
In Tinseltown, the Beloved Blueshirts coughed up a game against a team that was mired in a four-game skid. As for “easy breathing,” Mike Sullivan’s squad could find them in San Jose, where the Sharks inhale some fresh NHL oxygen.
The Rangers should be so lucky!
