After the match, Jesse Marsch spoke about Argentina’s significant delay in returning to the field for the start of the second half: “When they were waiting, I knew they were watching the video and analyzing how they wanted to play against us. Now I would still like the referees to get it right. If we were five minutes late, we would be fined.
“Let’s see what happens with Argentina. I think they should be fined. How late were they? You guys? 20 minutes? 30? I don’t know. It was long. But They had that time to prepare. I wanted to play against us in the second half, and if we had known in advance that we could have 10 extra minutes, we could have prepared some things more. But in the end, I did. just made sure the players knew it they were going to come up with a new plan and they basically went a little bit more towards three, but we still dealt with it.”
Marsch then joked with reporters at the press conference: “Argentina should be fined. OK? Fine. Write that down. Olé. La Nacion,” Marsch said, a wide smile on his face. “They should be penalized for coming out 20 minutes late in the second half.”
