The future is bright for LSU football under new head coach Lane Kiffin, but another season passes with the Tigers watching from the sidelines at the College Football Playoff. If things go as planned, it will be rare rather than common, but it’s a reality for the 2025 Tigers.
Several former Tigers, however, made the playoffs. These former Tigers include wide receiver CJ Daniels (Miami), Da’Shawn Womack (Ole Miss), Sage Ryan (Ole Miss) and Logan Diggs (Ole Miss).

Here’s how they fared in the first round of the College Football Playoff:
CJ Daniels – Wide Receiver – Miami

Daniels played for LSU for just one season before transferring to Miami. As 247Sports’ No. 22 Transfer ReceiverDaniels was expected to have a big season in Coral Gables. He didn’t have the consistent impact many expected, however, ranking third on the team in receptions (37) and receiving yards (420). Some of that was out of his reach, as the former Tiger was injured in Week 9 against Stanford, sidelining him for several weeks.
Even though the Hurricanes knocked off Texas A&M in the first round, Daniels didn’t play a major role. registration just two catches for 29 yards.

Da’Shawn Womack – Edge Rusher – Ole Miss
Womack has been a solid rotational asset for the Rebels this season, ranking sixth on the team in pressures (16) and tied for fourth in sacks (2), per PFF.
Ole Miss throttled Tulane in the first round of the CFP, with Womack making a respectable impact in his limited role. He didn’t record any passing stats in his 18 snaps, but he recorded three solo tackles.
Sage Ryan – Safety – Ole Miss

Ryan had a more productive year in Oxford than his fellow LSU transfer, starting eight games for the Rebels defense. He wasn’t exactly remarkable, but he had a productive season, totaling 23 tackles, 12 defensive stops and four assists. by PFF.

Ryan didn’t record any stats in Ole Miss’ win over Tulane.
Logan Diggs – running back – Ole Miss

Diggs fell victim to what was once a crowded LSU backroom, choosing to leave Baton Rouge for Oxford after the 2023 season. He has not been heavily involved in the Rebels’ offense since then, totalizing 30 rushing attempts for 194 yards and four touchdowns in his two seasons with the team.
Diggs, however, was involved in the Rebels’ CFP victory over Tulane. registration four carries for 11 yards and a touchdown. He also saw work in the passing game, hauling in two catches for 25 yards.
