The deep blows fell for Oregon Sunday evening.
Duck’s defense was not half bad either.
Behind one of its most complete efforts of the season, Oregon defeated Rutgers 75-57 in a male basketball match of Big Ten in Matthew Knight Arena.
The victory, which came to a crowd of 8,635, was the second consecutive line for the Ducks (18-8, 7-8 conference), which had lost five in a row until They beat the Northwestern 81-75 Tuesday To end the slippage.
“This time of year is when you want to play your best basketball,” said Oregon’s assistant coach Tony Stubblefield, who managed post-match tasks for the coach Dana Altman, who felt under the weather. “Our guys are in a good place, but you just have to keep improving as a team.”
It was the most decisive victory of the Ducks since he beat Weber state 89-49 on December 29. It was also the fewest points authorized by Oregon Since the same victory.
“We felt like we were playing 40 minutes full,” said leader Jackson Shelstad. “The last two games we were standing, but we let the teams come back to it, so this evening, we just kept foot on the gas.”
Shelstad led the Oregon with 19 out of 8 points from the 13 shots, which equaled its high season for goals on the field. It was his fourth consecutive match that marked at least 18.
Shelstad was not the only player to have spent a good night on the field, while the Ducks pulled 46.7% in total, including a record of 59.1% in the range of 3 points while they made 13 attempts of 22. Seven players made at least one 3 points and five made at least two.
It was the most manufactured 3S for the Ducks in their last 46 games.
“I think we were simply sharing the ball and we had beauty,” said Shestad. “The last two games, we have just shared the ball much better, so we just have to continue playing like that.”
The Nate Bittle Center also had 15 points, 10 rebounds and a career summit of five blocks. It was his fourth double-double of the season.
“Nate put the work,” said Stubblefield. “He showed up to train early, remaining late, he was really locked up and concentrated and he is paying for him.”
TJ Bamba added 11 points, six assists and four rebounds.
Bittle and Bamba helped lead a defensive effort that maintained the Knights Scarlet (12-14, 5-10), in particular their sensational first year duo of Ace Bailey and Dylan Harper, a pair of nba lottery choice planned in 2025.
Bailey and Harper entered the match with an average of 19.1 and 18.8 points per game, respectively, but were kept well to make their averages.
Harper has 13 points on 5 shots out of 14 and Bailey scored eight on 4 on 13 shots.
“In this match, we were really focused on these two, slowing them down,” said Shestad. “They are both really talented and always did a very good job on Bailey and all the guards had a little Harper. We just tried to slow them down and get the ball out of their hands and I feel like we’ve been doing a very good job for this. »»
