Hilary Duff plays tennis with her husband Matthew Koma “so they still love each other” in the years to come.
The singer/actress married her second husband Matthew in 2019 and she told him they needed to choose a sport they could play together in a bid to keep their relationship happy and stable – so they now play tennis every week without mistake.
She told Women’s Health magazine: “I play tennis every Sunday. My husband and I do that together, which is really fun. About two years ago, I said to him, ‘Here’s the deal: we have need a sport so that we always love each other.’ when the children leave the house.
“So now we ski, which is obviously seasonal. And we play tennis together, which is really fun.”
Hilary – who is mum to son Luca, 11, with ex-husband Mike Comrie and Banks, five, and Mae, two, with Matthew – also shared her workout regime explaining she loves weights light workouts as well as cardio and she never skipped a session even during vacations.
She added, “There’s so much going on with school events and birthdays and stuff. Our fall is very busy. And we always have Thanksgiving and Christmas at our house… You feel like you spend all the day eating and drinking, so it’s nice to get that (a workout) out of the way and just know you’ve done it.
“All the places I train at are open on holidays in the morning for a class.”
She added, “There’s nothing better than the way (this workout) makes your skin feel. You feel like you’ve gotten rid of what you needed to get rid of, and your skin is so nice. I really like that feeling.”
The couple celebrated their third wedding anniversary last year and Matthew wrote a sweet message to his wife on Instagram, acknowledging that marriage isn’t easy, but that difficult times are all part of a healthy relationship.
He wrote: “Anyone who says marriage is easy hasn’t been married or is angry about microdosing a little too high. But the work is the best part.
“The beauty truly is in going further with someone than you’ve ever been before and navigating an invisible map that only the two of you can navigate. The hard things make the great things even greater. Thank you ba to love me. I know it’s not always easy.”
