Hield looks at Klay’s 3-point record, not Steph’s, in the NBA originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area
Buddy Hield thinks there is a Warriors 3-point record he can break.
Speaking to NBC Sports Bay Area’s Dalton Johnson about the latest episode of “Dubs Talk,” Hield was asked about the supernatural world of Steph Curry. 3-point shot and if he could break one of his records.
“If there’s one record I don’t think (Curry) will break, it’s the record for fastest 3-pointer, I have it,” Hield told Johnson. “If there’s one record I could try to get, it would be getting the most 3-pointers in a game.”
Klay Thompson set the record for most 3-pointers in a game when he made 14 against the Chicago Bulls on October 29, 2018. The impressive barrage of long-range bombs was nothing new to Thompson at the time, as Golden State was an offensive juggernaut. .
Hield made waves since joining the Warriors during the offseason, adding a long-range threat on the offensive which was sometimes lacking last season. Through 19 games, the guard averaged 3.4 3-pointers per game on 44.2 percent shooting from beyond the arc. His 15.3 points per game leads the Golden State bench.
With the team in the midst of a mini slump, Hield and Golden State’s newcomers have helped the Warriors get off to a strong start.
Given his good start For the NBA season, expect more long-range shooting from Hield as he continues to adapt to Golden State’s offensive scheme. And on a particularly hot shooting night, he could challenge Thompson’s record for most 3-pointers in a game.
