Alex Bowman is officially eliminated of the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs.

Bowman was disqualified Sunday from the Bank of America Roval 400 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, a borderline round of 16 playoff race, after failing post-race inspection for his unresponsive No. 48 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet. minimum weight requirements.

Hendrick Motorsports announced Monday that it will not appeal the disqualification from NASCAR.

“NASCAR leaves a clear margin to account for the weight difference before and after the race,” Hendrick Motorsports wrote in a statement. “After careful review by our team and the sanctioning body, we simply did not give ourselves enough leeway to meet post-race requirements. Although unintentional, the infraction was avoidable.”

Bowman finished 18th on the track in Sunday’s race, but the disqualification placed the No. 48 car in 38th place. Joey Logano moved up to the final playoff spot in the Round of 16 after Sunday’s race due to Bowman’s disqualification.
