Haywood Highsmith, Miami Heat forward was involved in a car accident on Tuesday, Feb. 6, while returning home from the team’s victory over the Orlando Magic at Kaseya Center that evening, according to the Sentinel of the Sun.
The accident injured others, but the 6-foot-5 player himself couldn’t stand any of them. Highsmith made a brief three-minute appearance in their win over the Magic and recorded no stats.
Former Wheeling Cardinals player was absent from the second game of their back-to-back home game on Wednesday, February 7 against the San Antonio Spurs. The absence was attributed to “personal reasons”, likely related to his need to recover after the recent accident.
“We have been informed that Highsmith was involved in a motor vehicle accident while on his way home from last night’s game. Highsmith is listed as out for tonight’s game against the San Antonio Spurs for reasons “personal matters,” the team said in a statement before Wednesday’s game.
