Thembinkosi Lorch of Orlando Pirates arrives during the MTN8 2023 Final match between Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on September 7, 2023

Orlando Pirates have released an official statement on Thembinkosi ‘Nyoso’ Lorch confirming his return from suspension.

The Siya team reported yesterday that the striker had served his suspension and would be considered for selection for the team’s next match next weekend against the Golden Arrows.

The Buccaneers have confirmed that Lorch appeared before a disciplinary committee where he was required to reiterate his commitment to important issues relating to the abuse of women, which the club is completely opposed to.

The Pirates’ statement on the club’s official website reads:

“Lorch appeared before a disciplinary committee where he had to recommit to The Pledge.

“The commitment:

“At Orlando Pirates we recognize:

  • Women are the foundation and children the future of our society.
  • This violence against women and children amounts to waging war against ourselves as a nation.
  • “Therefore, at Orlando Pirates we are committed to:

    • Raise your voice and denounce violence against women and children.
  • Be exemplary through our actions and serve as a role model.
  • Supporting women and children affected by violence.
  • “Like good manners in the past, violence now shapes and obsesses our society. If we don’t stop it, it will stop us and our children will have a dark future.

“Throughout his period of suspension, Lorch demonstrated responsibility for his prior actions and took substantial steps to address them. He voluntarily participated in a clinical evaluation and agreed to complete all recommended follow-up care.

“Additionally, Lorch has expressed his unwavering dedication to personal growth and is fully aware of the repercussions if he fails.

“Thembinkosi Lorch has successfully completed his suspension and is now eligible to rejoin club activities, effective immediately.
