Following an ugly 10-3 loss to Kentucky, Auburn football coach Hugh Freeze was fired by the university just hours after fans booed the Tigers’ third-year coach and chanted “Fire Hugh” as he left the field.
But some fans understood that the former Ole Miss coach was preparing for his departure due to an absence on the start sheet at the Auburn University Club, where Freeze was known to have a 1:30 p.m. stand-up start time on Sunday.

3. NCAA Men’s Golf Championship Highlights: Michael La Sasso Wins Indy Title, Match Play Set

The third round of the NCAA Golf Championship resulted in the field being cut by half, with only 15 teams advancing to the final round.
Defending national champion Auburn led by four shots after three rounds of stroke play, and Ole Miss junior Michael La Sasso had a two-shot lead over Texas A&M senior Phichaksn Maichon for medalist honors. Both players were finalists for the Haskins Award.

After a marathon day at the 2025 NCAA Men’s Golf Championship, only two teams had a chance at a national title. Virginia and Oklahoma State fought for the right to be called national champions. The Cowboys pulled off a thrilling victory.
5. This Division I school is eliminating its golf programs effective immediately
Stephen F. Austin State University announced it is eliminating its men’s and women’s golf programs at the end of the academic year. The decision was based on sustained departmental budget deficits and the anticipated financial impact of upcoming revenue sharing requirements with Division I athletes, according to the school.
