(Golf Topic) PGA Tour “Tournament Confusion into Two Seasons”…Next Season Also Starts in September

(Golf Topic) PGA Tour “Tournament Confusion into Two Seasons”...Next Season Also Starts in September

(Asia Economy Reporter No Woo-rae) ○…The PGA Tour organizes tournaments for two alternating seasons.

This is an ironic situation caused by the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). The Safeway Open organizing committee announced on the 16th: “The 2020/2021 Safeway Open season will take place over four days, from September 10 to 13.” The venue remains the Silverado Golf Course in Napa, California, United States. The 2019/2020 Safeway Open season took place from September 26-29 last year, with Cameron Champ (USA) winning by one stroke.

The problem is the confusion caused by the alternating organization of tournaments this season and next season. A week after the Safeway Open ends, the US Open is scheduled, and two months later, the Masters is scheduled. The US Open and the Masters concern the 2019/2020 season. The US Open, originally scheduled for June, was postponed to September due to the spread of COVID-19, and the Masters was also postponed to November for the same reason. The Safeway Open organizing committee said, “We are happy to finalize the schedule,” adding, “One day COVID-19 will end. »
