(Asia Economy Reporter No Woo-rae) ○…The American Professional Golf Tour (PGA) will allow “guests” to attend.
Golf Digest USA reported on the 23rd (Korean time) that “the PGA Tour will allow 50 spectators per day at the FedEx St. Jude Classic, part of the World Golf Championships (WGC) series, starting on the 31st.” This marks a change from the previously maintained policy of no spectators. It is not open to the general grandstand but only to guests invited by the tournament sponsor companies in a limited capacity. This also includes people specially invited by participating players, such as players’ wives.
The PGA Tour confirmed that it sent an email containing this plan to players. Due to the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the tournament was suspended immediately after the first round of the Players Championship, known as the “fifth major”, in March, but resumed in June, with the current season scheduled to be played without spectators. Guests may enter the golf course without taking a COVID-19 test. However, they must undergo a temperature check and complete a health questionnaire.
