Noida: A sports village and a golf course will be developed in New Agra. Distributed over 9,000 hectares, the New Agra master plan includes attractions such as a theme park and a river to stimulate tourism. The officials said the New Agra Urban Center should be developed in four phases until 2041. The plan includes extended recreational greens, a dedicated tourist area and river development alongside industrial, residential and commercial areas. Located just 16 km from Taj Mahal, the city will develop a standard international golf course of 100 hectares and a modern sports village of 100 hectares, positioned as key attractions for sports tourism and major events. A highlight of the tourism plan is a large theme park, based on the themes of renowned destinations like Disneyland and Universal Studios. In addition, the city will include two major water tanks covering 94 and 180 hectares to guarantee water supply and support urban ecosystems. A 320 hectare solar park should generate 256 MW of clean energy, demonstrating a commitment to renewable power. Meanwhile, the plan also preserves 823 hectares as a river buffer area along the Yamuna, 485 hectares of dedicated green belts and 434 hectares for forests and agriculture. The edge of the city river will also be transformed, with landscaped alleys, pleasure navigation facilities, outdoor parks and cultural spaces. These additions are intended not only to stimulate tourism, but also to provide residents with daily leisure opportunities and picturesque public spaces, encouraging healthier community engagement and lifestyles.New Agra vision is inspired by the Chandigarh model, in particular the road concept of Le Corbusier’s “7V”, which promotes effective movements and reduces congestion. This approach aims to create a modern city that remains accessible on foot, accessible and concerned about the environment. The officials said that the project “Vision 2041” is anchored in four key pillars: industry, tourism, sustainability and transport. While industry and logistics will stimulate economic growth and job creation, tourist and cultural sectors will position AGRA as a global destination beyond Taj Mahal. Modern sustainability and transport infrastructure will ensure that this growth is not made at the cost of environmental or cultural degradation.Currently, the master plan project is shaped thanks to vast stakeholders’ consultations, including a workshop held last month in AGRA, where contributions were collected from local residents, businesses, planners and cultural experts. Officials have said that these suggestions will be integrated into the final plan within the framework of the Taj Trapezium Zone, ensuring that development aligns with environmental guidelines and protects the AGRA world renowned heritage sites. Once approved by the Board of Directors of the Authority, the project will go to the land acquisition phase, led by the Mathura regional office, which has already started to supervise the preparatory work. The officials said that the first phase (2025-2029) will focus on building a tourist district with river access and residential areas completed by large green spaces at the city level. The development of industrial and commercial areas on both sides of the Yamuna motorway will also be carried out.
