Nov. 26—FROSTBURG — Jaden Baker’s 33-point double-double wasn’t enough for Frostburg State, losing 85-78 to Davis and Elkins on Saturday.
The Bobcats (1-5, 0-1 Mountain East Conference) trailed 41-40 at halftime, but the Senators (3-3 1-0 MEC) outscored them 44-38 in the second half.
Baker scored a game-high 33 points to go with 11 rebounds, four assists and two steals.
Christopher Meakin finished with 13 points, nine rebounds and two blocks.
Eric Sondberg added 11 points, four steals and three rebounds.
Nicolas Silva had a double-double for the Senators with 23 points, 11 rebounds and a steal.
Nnadozie Okoroji added 14 points and eight rebounds while Sam Rolle IV (11) and Ja’Kobe Strozier (10) also scored in double figures.
In the second half, the Bobcats shot 1 of 13 (7.7%) from 3-point range.
Frostburg hosts West Virginia Wesleyan Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
Allegany College 86 Chesapeake 79WYE MILLS — Allegany College trailed by seven at halftime Friday, but outscored Chesapeake by 14 in the second half to earn a comeback victory.
The Trojans (4-5, 2-2 NJCAA Region 20) were led by Jaylen Brown with 20 points, adding four steals, four assists and three rebounds.
Sebastian Henson added 13 points, five rebounds and two assists while Gabriel Jones and Edward Johnson each scored 10 points.
Ashton Pratt led the Skipjacks (4-2, 0-2 Region 20) with 21 points coming off the bench.
Brandon Hooks and Elijah Credle each scored 16 points while Willie Jones and La’Shaun Moody finished with 11 points.
The Trojans host Garrett Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Garrett splits pair SANBORN, N.Y. — Garrett College split two games over the weekend, beating Jamestown 89-66 on Friday before losing its season opener Saturday to SUNY Niagara 72-61.
On Saturday, the Lakers (6-1) were trailing 46-35 at halftime.
Both teams scored 26 points in the second half, but the 11-point halftime lead was the difference for the Thunderwolves (10-0).
K’Shawn Scott led Garrett with 12 points, adding seven rebounds and a steal.
Nasir Coleman and Gavin Jackson each scored 11 points.
Carmello Myles grabbed 20 rebounds, including nine offensive rebounds, also scoring nine points.
Chioke Marshall led SUNY Niagara with 16 points coming off the bench, adding five rebounds, two steals and a block.
Jalen Duff (14), Jamyier Patton (13), Daniel Reyes (12) and Camron Dyer (10) also finished with double-digit scoring.
The Thunderwolves beat all three regional teams in men’s and women’s basketball.
The men’s team defeated Allegany 109-102 on November 8 and WVU Potomac State College 96-87 on November 9.
The women’s team won 109-102 against the Trojans on November 6 and 96-87 against the Catamounts on November 9.
Friday, the Lakers led 49-20 at halftime over the Jayhawks (2-8) and dominated them 40-37 in the second half.
Lyles was Garrett’s leading scorer with 16 points while Keyonta Johnson (14), Marqui Olds (13), Coleman (12), Jackson (12) and Robinson (10) were also in double figures.
Travis Castro led Jamestown with 15 points, followed by Marcus Wynter and Federico Foddai with 13 each and Ilyass Kaichi with 12.
Garrett travels to Bob Kirk Arena on Tuesday to take on Allegany.
Potomac State 99 Butler County 46KEYSER, W.Va. — WVU Potomac State College was in complete control Saturday, beating Butler County.
Five Catamounts (4-4) finished in double figures led by Peter Quaye coming off the bench.
He tied Damian Thompson with a team-high 15 points and had a double-double with 10 rebounds.
Thompson added four rebounds, two assists and a block.
Camren Wilkes and Demabior Shokai added 13 points each while Eugene Bryant scored 10 points in reserve.
D’Andre Whitman and Terrance Pankey each scored 15 points, combining for 30 of the Pioneers’ (1-2) 46 points.
The Catamounts host Frederick on Wednesday, December 4 at 5 p.m.
