The Fresno State Bulldogs completed a perfect week on the hard court, winning both games on the schedule this week, both at home.

On Tuesday, Jake Heidbreder scored 23 points, while DeShawn Gory scored 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in a 79-69 win over Colorado State.

Over the first six minutes, the two teams went back and forth, with the Rams taking a 12-10 lead. Then an offensive explosion gave the Bulldogs the lead.

Relying on a mix of attacks from multiple players, Fresno State went on a 26-10 run over the final 14 minutes of the first half to take a 36-22 lead. Gory and Heidbreder would each score six points during the run, while Jac Mani, Zaon Collins and David Douglas Jr. knocked down three-point jumpers to help them out. Douglas would also add a two-point jump shot.

Colorado State would rally back in the second half, tying the game at 41-41 with a flurry of three-pointers.

Heidbreder and Gory would then bring their Bulldogs back into the lead, then pull away in the final minutes.

Heidbreder would score 14 of his 23 points in the second half, while Gory had eight in the second half and found Bastien Rieber for an open three that would push the Bulldogs to a double-digit lead with less than four minutes to play.

Saturday night, the Bulldogs engaged in a dog fight, as they hosted the Wyoming Cowboys.

In a game that was close throughout, it was Heidbreder’s free throws and a steal from DJ Stickman that made the difference.

With the game tied at 58-58 with two minutes remaining, Heidbreder would hit two free throws to give Fresno State the lead. Then, after both teams missed shots, Wyoming’s Leland Walker grabbed his own rebound and looked for an open teammate. His pass was erroneous, however, as Stick came in front and stole. Douglas knocked down the next free throws to give the Bulldogs a four-point lead at 62-58.

Walker then made a few free throws to reduce the gap to 62-60. Douglas got one back when he split his own free throws. A three-pointer by Nasir Meyer as the buzzer sounded was no good and Fresno State would hold on for a 63-60 victory.

After the two wins, Fresno State is now 9-9 in the regular season and 3-4 in the Mountain West Conference, good enough for seventh in the conference standings.

Following

The Bulldogs will play twice again next week, splitting the away and home games.

On Wednesday, Fresno State will travel to the vaunted Pit in Albuquerque to take on the New Mexico Lobos. This match will begin at 6:00 p.m. PT and will be broadcast on CBS Sports Net.

Saturday night, the Bulldogs will host the Grand Canyon Antelopes with this game starting at 4:30 p.m. PT and broadcast on the Mountain West Network.
