The suspense is over. Florida will get a key piece back when it hosts LSU on Saturday. QB DJ Lagway will be ready to go, according to Florida head coach Billy Napier.
Lagway suffers injured hamstring against Georgia. He was taken away, which caused a few scares, but the injury was not as serious as it initially appeared.
Florida was down to its third-string QB in the Week 11 loss to Texas, so Lagway’s return is more than welcome. He’s only a true freshman, but Lagway makes Florida one of the most explosive offenses in the SEC.
Lagway’s 11.3 yards per attempt ranks second in the SEC and he’s not afraid to let it fly, throwing the ball deep 21.1 percent of the time.
He was the No. 1 overall QB in the 2024 class and Billy Napier hopes Lagway will be the ingredient that jumpstarts the rebuild.
The first returns are promising. According to PFF, Lagway has the best passing grade under pressure in the SEC. This isn’t something you see often in true freshman QBs.
LSU looks for a bounce-back opportunity this week, but the road gets tougher with Lagway returning.
