Week 9 marked another strange stretch in the books for tight ends so far this season. Among those producing in the top 12 last week were Mike Gesicki (24.5 fantasy points), Josh Oliver (14.3), Theo Johnson (12.6), Ja’Tavion Sanders (10.7) and Nick Vannett (10.3) – holy smokes. What a list.
Of course, not everyone is betting on repeating these performances in the future… but Gesicki in particular could be a name to watch in the coming weeks. He finished Week 9 with a 5-100-2 stat line that gave him a career-high 24.5 fantasy points for first place for the week.
Unfortunately, due to a season-ending injury to promising rookie TE Erick All Jr., Gesicki could be in line for even more work – especially if WR Tee Higgins’ absence continues in the coming weeks as he recovers from a quad injury.
