The Christmas tree, which is to be lit with a quarter of a million lights in the park district’s village hall, library and pavilion campuses, came from Bob and Donna Poratz who live on Mississippi Lane on the west of the village.
The festivities heat up with snacks at 4 p.m., followed at 4:30 p.m. by a concert by 1960s band The Cryan’ Shames, who had hits like “Sugar and Spice” and “Up On The Roof.”
The tree will be lit at 5:30 p.m. with the flip of a switch, followed by fireworks lighting up the night sky announcing Santa’s arrival on a sleigh pulled by a public works truck, driven to Village Green by Elk Grove Village Makers Wanted. Nascar n°6 Ford Mustang.
Santa and his elves will meet children on a stage at the event to discuss their holiday wishes and pose for photos.
