The Philadelphia Eagles were interested in signing free agent wide receiver Darnell Mooney before he ultimately joined the New York Giants, according to a report from Jeremy Fowler, NFL Insider.
Fowler adds that Mooney has a good relationship with Giants offensive coordinator Matt Nagy, having previously worked together with the Chicago Bears from 2020-21.

Mooney was recently released by the Atlanta Falcons, two years after signing a three-year, $39 million contract with them. He had a great year with 992 yards in 2024 but fell to just 443 yards last season.
It’s interesting to see that the Eagles were interested in signing a veteran receiver. The team lost Jahan Dotson in free agency (to the same Falcons who cut Mooney). There’s also obviously a lot of buzz around the fact that AJ Brown won’t return to Philadelphia in 2026.
We’ll soon see if the Eagles look to add another wide receiver to their roster.
