British number one Jack Draper reached the Qatar Open final with a 3-6 7-6 victory (7-2) 6-3 against Jiri Lehecka.
The Lehecka of the Czech Republic took control of the opening set after having broken the service in the eighth game, before a second set more, even went to an equality break.
DRAPER – Who beat the former Wimbledon Matteo Berrettini finalist on Thursday – produced an almost flawless performance in equality to send the match to a decision maker.
The final set went with service until a double fault of Lehecka takes a break from the 23 -year -old Briton, the Czech throwing his racket on the ground.
Draper, whose recent Injury problems were well documentedBroke serves again with his second match point to give himself a chance to win a third career title.
“I thought that in the first set, I put a sloppy game,” said Draper.
“I started to take an advance on its service (Lehecka), holding more easily and creating a lot of pressure behind its service.
“I felt more positive over the match. I am proud of the way I competed there.”
Draper, who reached the fourth Australian round in January, will meet Andrey Rublev in the final on Saturday after the Russian defeated the Felix Auger-Aliassime of Canada 7-5 4-6 7-6 (7-5).
An equal competition fell to an exciting decisive set, the number 10 of the world, Rublev, winning victory with his fourth match point.
“I think I play better during the week per week, I improve,” said Rublev, who won the three previous meetings with Draper.
Meanwhile, the final final of Saturday will be an entirely British affair after Neal Skupski and Joe Salisbury beat Henry Patten in Great Britain and Harri Heliovaara 3-6 6-3 10-5 in Finland.
Earlier Friday, the British pair Lloyd Glasspool and Julian Cash beat Yuki Bhambri from India and Ivan Dodig 7-6 (7-3) in Croatia.
It will be the third final of the ATP Tour between two entirely British teams, the three involving at least one of the Skupski brothers.
