They say revenge is a dish best served cold. On Wednesday night, Anaheim arrived with an offer from Cold Duck to go with it.

Ten days later losing to the Anaheim Ducks 4-3 in a shootoutThe Ottawa Senators defeated the Ducks 5-1 at the Canadian Tire Centre. Drake Batherson led the way with a natural hat trick and assist.

Linus Ullmark has been money for the Senators, going 4-0-1 in his last five games and stopping 31 of 32 shots on Wednesday. With just over seven minutes left, Cutter Gauthier ended Ullmark’s attempt at his second shutout, which would have tied his NHL career high for a season.

To cap off the night for the first responders, Noah Gregor scored the first for Ottawa. According to NHL.com, the Senators are now 10-2 in games where they score first, which is the third-highest scoring-first winning percentage (.833) in the NHL, behind only New York Rangers And Toronto Maple Leafs.

All three of Batherson’s goals came with a bit of luck. In the first game, Ducks goaltender John Gibson was lying on top of the puck, making it very difficult to see if it had crossed the line. The goal was finally awarded after a long review. The other two faced Ducks defenseman Cam Fowler.

Batherson’s first goal Wednesday gave him 100 for his career and, according to the league, made him the 10th fastest player in Ottawa Senators history to reach the century club for goals.

Brady Tkachuk scored the other goal of the night, as he and Tim Stützle each finished with two points for the Senators, improving their record to 13-13-2 on the season.

On Thursday, the Senators will participate in the Melnyk Skate for Kids at the Canadian Tire Centre. Next, it’s off to Raleigh, North Carolina, and it looks like they’ll face the Hurricanes on Friday the 13th. Over the years, trying to win in this building has been a horror show for the Senators.
