THE NASCAR Cup Series rolls into the Mid-Atlantic to take on the Monster Mile, but instead of a traditional Sunday race, drivers will take the green flag on Monday.
For the second year in a row and the third time since 2019, Dover Motor Speedway to host event on Monday after weather once again disrupted racing in Delaware.
Last year’s race started on Sunday but didn’t finish until Monday. after the race was interrupted after 78 of 400 laps due to rain. The 2023 edition never even started as rain fell regularly on Sunday in Dover. Monday looks to be much brighter, with the forecast calling for sunny skies in the morning – which should help dry the track – and cloudy conditions and temperatures around 60 degrees when the race is expected to turn green at noon ET.
This will be the only Cup Series stop at Dover this season – Dover’s second race was eliminated two years ago when its sister track Nashville Superspeedway debuted in 2021 – so it will be the only opportunity for drivers to win one of the most unique trophies in sports: “Miles the Monster”.
