Do Knicks need to make the NBA finals and other results of the New York fans survey

People have spoken.

More than 3,000 fans have expressed their opinion on the coming season of New York Knicks and the state of the franchise. And, as was the case last year, expectations are high of both organization and fans.

New York finished two victories short from the NBA final last year, pulled its coach, hired a new one and brought together most of the list next year with a little over a month before the training camp start. Based on the investigation results, he has the impression that Knicks fans anticipate another season which sees the franchise ending a long drought.

That said, let’s move on to the results for each question and my reflections on everything.

How far should the Knicks go next season so that you consider him a successful season?

Progress should not always be linear, but in the case of the Knicks, which are months of their first appearance in the final of the Eastern Conference in 25 years and pulling their most victorious coach this century, this is the case.

More than 70% of the votes suggest that fans believe that New York must, at least, make the final. I thought it would be the case. Not only were the Knicks perhaps a prayer of Tyrese Haliburton, going from last season, but the nucleus will have another year to his credit at a conference in the East with less legitimate contenders under the NBA (largely due to injuries).

Winning an NBA title is difficult. It is also difficult to go to the final. Too many factors outside which team is the best play in achievements of this magnitude. However, as things arise, the Knicks have a lot in their favor to be the last team in the East.

To what extent are you confident that the Knicks will be the seeded n ° 1 in the is next year?

I am actually surprised that “very confident” came in third place. Maybe decades of sorrow have fans controlling their emotions. It is understandable.

While we sit here in August, the only team that seems to be at the same level as the Knicks in the East is the Cleveland Cavaliers, which, after a conference in the East, 64 victories last season, failed in the second round of the NBA qualifiers at the Indiana Pacers. Cleveland dominated New York during the regular season last year, and it is perhaps where part of prudence comes from for Knicks fans.

The riders have more continuity than the Knicks, and I could see it lead to a better regular season record if New York takes a little to find his place under a new head coach. That said, one of the riders or knicks will be the seed n ° 1 to the east (except injuries of course). We will see how these two teams clashed against each other, while they open the season against each other, then play again at Christmas.

Do you agree with Tom Thibodeau’s dismissal?

Of all the questions on this investigation, this result was the one that made me the most curious. When you talk to fans in person and online, there seems to be a healthy division with regard to this question. The results show the same thing somewhat.

In the end, I think fans have tired of Thibodeau’s dependence on his beginners, his lack of experimentation until the Knicks are deeply in the playoffs and, well, after five years, people like change. Do I think Thibodeau deserved to be dismissed? I don’t know. I thought he deserved a year more after all he did to help transform New York into a respectable organization in the field. Do I understand why he was dismissed? I do.

The decision to dismiss Thibodeau could be the one that makes decision -makers like geniuses or, potentially, collect the franchise a little. We will know it early enough.

Have you liked Mike Brown’s hiring?

This is a bit like I thought that the result of this question would take place.

Brown had a long coach career who met up and stockings. It is respected around the NBA but does not come with the pedigree of the championship (as chief coach) that I am sure that some fans would have wished after what happened last season. Brown has a lot of references that you would like about someone who directs the show, but I’m not sure he would be considered a “splashing” rental.

Brown and the front office will absorb all the pressure this season to come. Brown is the only major change compared to a team that went far last season, and the front office made the decision to change its bodies in this first chair. The owner also faces the pressure, but he owns the team. So, is it really a pressure? It will not be triggered.

The veteran coach deserves the benefit of doubt outside the door. Brown has accomplished enough in this league to make you believe that with this team, it could be the voice necessary to help the Knicks reach the top of the mountain.

Did you like the process that the front office has taken to shoot and hire a new head coach?

Another is sharing for the most part, and I think it is the right reaction to this question.

Not everyone was on the same wavelength. And, no, it was not the best cycle to dismiss an accomplished coach and look for a new head coach. However, with these two things say, the Knicks made their reasonable diligence, whatever the funky the process.

Now you could say that they were forced to make their reasonable diligence because of how and the moment when Thibodeau was released. These people would not be incorrect. However, given the circumstances, I thought that New York has returned a lot of stones to make sure that she found what she believes to be the best candidate available.

We will know it early enough if the Knicks process led to the results they were looking for.

A year later, do you like trade for Mikal Bridges?

If the investigation was carried out before the playoffs, I wonder if the results would have had a little more blue …

After being exchanged for a handful of recovery choices last summer, the introduction of bridges to Manhattan encountered mixed criticism. He sometimes had a hard time as the main defender of the team’s attack point, and his offensive success largely depended on the mid -range shooting. Individually, Bridges had a good regular season, but he certainly had pockets where he let fans want more.

However, in the playoffs, Bridges made some of the biggest defensive stops in more than one series and also struck big blows here and there. He has always been coherent from one district to another during the playoffs, but his heights were essential to help the Knicks to make the final of the Eastern Conference.

In the end, New York traded bridges because he thought he was the missing piece to help the franchise be suitable contenders. The Knicks were two victories from the final and bridges played in every match. It’s something.

A year later, do you like trade in Karl-Anthony cities?

The Knicks have not abandoned too much to acquire cities and its long contract, so the results here make sense.

He was one of the 15 best players in the NBA last season, had his most effective shooting season in three years and, like Bridges, played a big role in the Knicks making the final of the Eastern Conference. Towns has its limits defensively, but everyone knew it when trade occurred. His attack broke out despite an optimal spacing, and there is more there for Brown to try to unlock.

Regarding cities, Knicks must know if they can gain at the highest level with him playing mainly in the center or if he needs another traditional center for the rim to his side. The Timberwolves thought they answered this question and now New York must do it as soon as possible.

What should be the starting alignment next season?

The response of the fans here is correlated with what I was talking about above.

Fans, too, have the impression of twinning cities with a more traditional center and a defensive spirit like Mitchell Robinson is the best way to follow in order to maximize the ceiling of this team. Thibodeau went to the starting program of Brunson-Bridges-Anunoby-Towns-Robinson halfway through the playoff series and although the results were not great, they were better than the previous departure training. The old programming played 65 minutes together in the playoffs (which was the 15th most used alignment of all the playoffs) and displayed a net note of -3.7. The Bruns-Bridges-Anunoby-Hart-Towns range played 335 minutes together (which was the most used programming of the entire qualifying series) and had a net note of -6.2.

The starting training with Robinson was not used much during the regular season, largely because Robinson missed most of the regular season due to an injury. Maybe there is more to unlock there with more time together.

After that, fans seem to prioritize the filming of Miles McBride as opposed to the connectivity of Josh Hart.

Out of curiosity, if you voted “other”, let me know in the starting program you want to see.

How many seasons will you give this Knicks iteration To win a championship before panicking?

I will not spend too much time on this result. It makes sense.

Brown and Co. obtain two years to understand it from the point of view of fans. It seems reasonable.

Do you always have faith that Jalen Brunson can be the best player in a league team?

Of all the questions on this survey, it was the only result I am the most sure.

Brunson, once again, was one of the 10 best NBA players. He was the most engaging player in basketball. He had a ridiculously playful series performance. Brunson is the best player in the team and, perhaps more than anyone, has been essential for resurgence on the Knicks field in recent years.

Fans like Brunson. Brunson loves fans. It’s a perfect wedding.

Maybe Brunson never brings a title to New York. There are too many factors that have an impact that results outside the control of Brunson. And even if he never does, Brunson has proven that, year after year, he is one of the best players in the game.

The case could be put forward that a team with two limited defenders playing major minutes cannot win a title. It is understandable. However, for me, that says more about the consolidation of a slightly wrong team than Brunson.
