Yesterday, the New Jersey Devils sent Seamus Casey to the AHL and recalled Daniil Misyul.
Not only was it surreal to be called up to the NHL, but it was also Misyul’s 24th birthday. Which probably makes this the best birthday present yet.
Misyul is originally from Belarus but grew up playing hockey in Russia. He played for Yaroslavl Lokomotiv in the KHL for five seasons before heading to North America to play with the Devils’ AHL team, the Utica Comets.
Misyul will make his NHL debut tonight against the Tampa Bay Lightning, as the Devils and the rest of the NHL compete in the NHL Frozen Frenzy.
