Last March, the Star of Rugby Louis Rees-Zammit signed with the chiefs. His first year in the NFL did not lead to any appearance in the regular season.
The trip led him from the list of 80-men’s intersaison / pre-season chiefs to the Jacksonville training team. Along the way, he went from the carrier back to the receiver.
Despite the fact that he has never played in a game that counts (he spent the whole year in the Pratucice team), Rees-Zammit remains for American football.
“”I never thought of going back to rugby“, Rees-Zammit told Philip Marsh of the BBC Sport Wales.” I was not in my head that I will not do that. I always wanted that… .. The second (return to rugby ) Slips into your head, you start to doubt yourself and that will not happen with me.
Monday, Rees-Zammit Signed with Jacksonville’s off -season list, 90 men. But there remains a stiff climb to the active list of 53 men of week 1.
“The first step in the dream is to make an active list, I do everything I can for it to happen,” Rees-Zammit told Marsh. “This is my dream, and the way I realize it is to work as hard as possible to make the list.”
Persistence, commitment and determination are admirable. However, he will be in competition with many others who want the same thing as him in the game at Somme Zero to win an official place in the regular season in an NFL team.
“Each day is a challenge, every day is a difficult, hard work, but it is the one for this dream of realizing the trouble to be done,” said Rees-Zammit. “I do everything I can to become a better player on the field and a better person off the field, so I can’t wait to see this season.”
Rees-Zammit has time. He was 24 years old on February 1. And with a full year of NFL practice to his credit, he will now have a complete and equitable chance to take the next step.
