One of the latest topics of endless debate in NASCAR has been the call for more power from the Next-Gen Cup Series car, and current driver and team owner Denny Hamlin crushed any future debate on the subject. The 23XI Racing co-owner recently explained how the governing body plans to improve the seventh-generation Cup Series car’s short-track package.

As NASCAR aims to focus solely on tire technology as well as improved racing facilities, Denny Hamlin confirmed that calls from drivers and fans for increased horsepower in the sport are far from be satisfied. He expanded on the subject in his Actions Detrimental podcast, saying:

“They (NASCAR) made it clear publicly last week, and they told us, that horsepower is simply not an option for a variety of reasons. If we want to retain horsepower, we certainly should, at In my opinion, work on getting rid of power displacement.

Hamlin We explained in more detail how tire technology will be worked on by the official supplier of NASCAR, Goodyear, in the future:

“They’re really going to focus on tires and tracks. The biggest difference between Next Gen and Gen 6 is that the charges are significantly lower than they were. On the left side is the big spot where we really need to work the tire wear a little harder. So they’re going to try to be really aggressive on certain tracks. »

It remains to be seen how well NASCAR and Goodyear can adapt the tires to the Next Gen. Series of cuts car. A repeat of what happened earlier this season at Bristol Motor Speedway isn’t entirely out of step with what fans expect from the sport these days.

Denny Hamlin details his 2024 season so far

Joe Gibbs Racing driver Denny Hamlin recently spoke about his performance during the current 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season. The Virginia native spoke about how positive this year has been for the No. 11 crew of Coach Gibbs’ racing team.

With two victories already under his belt, Hamlin explained that he was unable to seal his victory in Texas Last weekend. Elaborating on his podcast, Actions Detrimental, he said:

“It’s been a really fun year for me so far because every week I know I’m one of the top three guys in speed. Two weeks in a row without getting the finish we deserved, this one is ( the finish in Texas) on me for sure In hindsight, yes, I should have taken second place but I want to win.

It remains to be seen how Denny Hamlin performs in this weekend’s 2024 GEICO 500which will go live Sunday at 3 p.m. ET.
