Texas football coach Steve Sarkisian said wide receiver DeAndre Moore Jr. is “progressing this week” after suffering a foot injury during the Longhorns‘ most recent victory against Arkansas.
“We will see if he will be ready to come here on Saturday,” Sargsyan said in a call with reporters Wednesday. “But we’re definitely a better team when he’s out there.”
Moore ranks fifth on the team with 263 receiving yards, but the box score often fails to accurately represent Moore’s impact on the game.

The 6-foot, 195-pound California sophomore is an exceptional blocker, even being tasked with blocking defensive ends in the running game against Arkansas and Florida.
“While he was doing all the dirty work blocking, the ball wasn’t really getting to him early in the season,” Sarkisian said. “There were no complaints. There was no, ‘When am I going to get mine?’ And then, of course, he had a few assaults there where the ball was finding him and he created explosive plays.
Moore’s output tends to be clustered.

He caught four passes for 104 yards and two touchdowns in a Week 5 win over Mississippi State. He also had 97 receiving yards and two touchdowns against Vanderbilt. He didn’t exceed 25 receiving yards in Texas’ other eight games this year.
Moore’s official injury status for Saturday’s game against Kentucky will be revealed in the SEC-mandated availability report to be released Wednesday evening.
