“I have already expressed my gratitude to Dallas as they have made this a home for me over the last few years, and I am working with them together to find a next home for me,” the No. 2 pick said. in the 2020 WNBA Draft. “I already played my last game in Dallas.”
Sabally, who helped Germany reach the Olympics for the first time in the country’s history, said she would love to play with her sister Nyara, who plays with the New York Liberty, “in the future “.
“I’m excited about free agency,” Sabally said. “I get to talk to a lot of players around the league because I haven’t played on another team yet, and I’m excited to get to know them more on a personal level, but also how they approach the game. I love having basketball conversations and high level game IQ conversations about where I will be best in the future.
Sabally spoke about an hour after Dallas introduced Chris Koclanes as head coach. The Wings have the chance to give Sabally a franchise tag and trade him to another team.
“Obviously, at first, they were still trying to keep me,” Sabally said of the Wings’ reaction to the news. “But I think the most effective thing is to work with the player, listen to his wishes and find out how we can find the best solution for each other.”
Wings general manager Curt Miller praised Sabally’s talent when asked about the star during the introductory press conference.
“Satou’s career has to be complimented at this point. When she’s healthy, she’s an elite player and she’s a difference-maker,” Miller said.
Sabally was only able to play in 15 games for Dallas last year as she prepared for the Olympics. She averaged 15.7 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.6 assists during her career with Dallas.
